Jade & Andrew’s alternative Bryngarw House Wedding near Bridgend is the kind of day for you if you don’t plan on following all of the norms of a wedding day. If you like the idea of a Krispy Kreme wedding cake, woollen suits and Converse instead of heels on your wedding day then this is the wedding for you. Bryngarw House is a lovely venue and it has such stunning grounds. I always enjoy working there and the staff are always helpful and welcoming.
Jade & Andrew’s wedding day started with me flitting between Jade’s prep in the main house and Andrew’s prep in the coach house. The Bride’s space was full of laughter and Prosecco and the Groomsmen were all Slipknot and worries about how to put on a bow-tie. So very different but both wonderful to be part of. The ceremony was really lovely, quite a few moments of laughter and a few happy tears shed here and there. Afterwards we ran through the group shots and the formals and then Jade & Andrew and I went to explore the grounds for the couple portraits. Jade & Andrew really wanted some alternative shots and to add some mood and atmosphere to the photographs so I went for it with some flash and darker editing. I split the couple shots between then and after the wedding breakfast. This meant Jade & Andrew didn’t feel like they had been away from their guests too long and visa versa. Their guests didn’t feel like they were gone for ages taking photos rather than getting the chance to say their congratulations!
I love to get to know my couples as well as possible before their wedding day. It helps me to really get a handle on what makes them tick and what they want from their photography. As part of that I have a set of questions I always ask as part of a questionnaire. Sometimes the answers make me laugh and sometimes they bring a tear to my eye because they are so beautiful. What is even more wonderful is when, on the wedding day I can totally see the reasons why they fell in love with each other and they shine. Jade & Andrew did just that!
What was the first thing that drew you to your partner?
Jade – Initially, his appearance, he had a bit of a ‘bad boy’ vibe and as we got to know each other he was always kind to me in little, thoughtful ways.
Andrew – She made me laugh and still does. And she was always fair and gave me plenty of space and time with my friends…and has never changed.
What do you love about your partner?
Jade – He is without doubt the most selfless person I have ever met.
Andrew – I love that she tells me trivia and facts when she learns something new, and she always plays devil’s advocate even when she agrees with me just to help me broaden my perspectives.
