This Forest of Dean Family Photoshoot at Puzzlewood & The Dean Forest Railway is for you if you are looking for a natural and family family shoot set in the countryside. I met Izzy, Dom and Florence at Liberty & Elliott’s wedding in north Wales over a year ago and it was SO lovely to catch up with them and see how Florence has grown. We met up at their campsite near Chepstow and then drove to Puzzlewood. If you have never been to Puzzlewood you really should. It’s been used as a location for films & TV series such as Merlin & Atlantis, Jack the Giant Slayer, Star Wars VII and Dr.Who. It was J.R.R.Tolkien’s inspiration for Lord of the Rings as well. It is a magical magical place and well worth a visit. Ideally not during school holidays if you can help it.
We then went on to Dean Forest Railway where we caught the train from Norchard to parkend and back again. Florence really loved the train journey! It was a really lovely couple of hours spent with 3 lovely people and I can’t wait to catch up with them again in the future!
“Puzzlewood is a unique and enchanting place, located in the beautiful and historic Forest of Dean. Explore a mile of meandering pathways, with its fantastic tree and rock formations, through this 14 acre ancient woodland. It has an atmosphere quite unlike any other wood you have visited. JRR Tolkien is reputed to have taken his inspiration for the fabled forests of Middle Earth from Puzzlewood, and it’s easy to see why.
As well as the woods we have lots of animals, a willow maze, indoor mazes and a toddler racing track, an outdoor playground, plenty of picnic benches, a cafe and gift shop with lots of local crafts. The magical scenery of Puzzlewood has made it a popular location for filming and to date we have played host to a number of exciting television dramas including Dr Who, Merlin and Atlantis. Come along and discover the magic and if you have a great time, why not either upgrade to an annual pass or stay in one of our cottages onsite.”
