If you love weddings that still are classic and a little bit traditional with a dash of total rebellion then Kate & Kieran’s wedding is for you.
Kate totally rocked her look on her wedding day. She wore an elegant dress that looked so elegant and right for her. She topped it all off with beautifully styled bright pink hair. Kieran wore his military uniform which made him stand out from the guests and look so so smart as well. It was totally the way to have a classic wedding but to bring in elements that really stood out and made it theirs. I’ll let them tell you their story below.
Tell me your story
We met about four years ago in a bar in Leeds, where I was living at the time. We travelled back and forth to see each other every weekend for a couple of years, then I moved to Chepstow to live with Kieran. We got engaged in Summer 2016 after a nice sunny walk around Usk Castle, and started planning our wedding day straight away.
What made you choose your venue?
The first thing that attracted us to the venue was that it was exclusive use, so there wouldn’t be anyone around other than our guests, When we went to look around, the manor and grounds were really lovely and the staff seemed super organised. Being able to have the whole day in one location was another huge plus for us.
What made you choose your outfits?
Kate – I initially set out looking for a big princess dress, but ended up choosing something completely different! I loved that my outfit was comfy and I could dance all night 🙂 Kieran – I loved wearing my military uniform because its really smart and it made me stand out from the rest of the guests.
What made you choose your decor and styling?
We chose to keep the decor fairly simple as the Manor was already such a beautiful place. We had flower jars for centrepieces and bouquets for Kate and the bridesmaids. Our florist was Deacons Florist in Chepstow. They were really helpful. We gave them our colour scheme and they showed us loads of ideas.
Tell me about your Ceremony
We choose one reading each for the ceremony, and kept them a secret from each other until the day. I asked my Mum to read mine for me, and Kieran read his himself. This was a really special part of the day for us, and one of the most memorable parts.
Did you have any entertainment?
After the ceremony we had a mini golf course set up for guests to play. We also had garden games after the meal and speeches, and a band playing in the evening.
Was there any special music on the day? What was your first dance track?
All the music we chose for the ceremony was special to us, and we took quite a lot of time over picking out tracks and listening to the lyrics. Our first dance track was Best Friend by Jason Mraz.
What was your favourite part of the day and why?
Our favourite part of the day was the ceremony and reading. We also loved the evening entertainment and drinks, as we could see all our friends and family were having a really good time.
Words of wisdom?
Kieran’s words of wisdom: “Let your wife choose everything about the day so you know she’ll be happy” My advice would be to choose a helpful, organised venue like Manor by The Lake. They made its so we wouldn’t have to worry about anything on the day. I wouldn’t change anything about our day, for me it was perfect.
Did you have a honeymoon of any kind?
We flew to Bali for two weeks, then onto Australia where we hired a campervan and travelled down the east coast.
What was it like working with Larissa?
Larissa was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. She helped our day to run smoothly and managed to blend into the background whilst still getting great shots. We are over the moon with our finished photographs and the lovely box they were presented in. Larissa even saved some flowers from our bridesmaid’s basket and dried them for us. I would highly recommend Larissa to anyone planning a wedding, we can’t thank her enough.
