Last summer I got to photograph my good friends, Alex & Amy’s Buddhist Festival wedding. It was on a beautiful summers day at their home near Chepstow with almost everything from food to dresses provided by guests and family. I love weddings where the hearts of the bride, groom and their families shine through every ounce of the wedding and this was certainly one of those. Alex & Amy are some of the coolest, warmest people I know and it was an honour to capture their memories for them.

The day started out with Amy getting ready with her family down the road at a friends B&B. As soon as everyone was ready we jumped in the car and drove to Alex & Amy’s house with Bruno Mars ‘Marry you’ playing full blast. Alex was waiting with friends and family at the bottom of the hill and as soon as Amy arrived the ceremony begun. The ceremony was taken by interfaith minister, Claire Breeze. Amy’s Aunt Louise who is Buddhist, led a Buddhist tea ceremony and chanting of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.  The food for the day was supplied by all of the guests who all brought a dish and catered for every taste.  Music in the afternoon and evening was provided by Alex’s band Babyhead.  Ellee Jelly, Long, Sean, Euge & Dean ‘Lovers Lounge’ DJ set (Amy’s sister and her partner and their 3 boys 8, 5 & 1!) all kept everyone dancing well into the night.

It was one of the most colourful weddings I have ever been blessed to attend and one I am really glad I got to document.
