Maddy & Mikes wedding at the M Shed in Bristol was beautiful and unusual. Unusual because the M Shed is a museum full of Bristolian History and pieces of lovely art work and not a place you would usually think would be a wedding venue and also unusual because Maddy & Mike have a love of all things Wes Anderson and asked if I could incorporate some of his style in their wedding day portraits. When they booked me I had not had the joy of watching a Wes Anderson film so I set myself the task of watching a few and I have to say I loved them, particularly The Grand Budapest Hotel. With a background in illustration and now a being a photographer I found it beautiful to watch and a photographic inspiration.
There are some beautiful and unusual parts to the M Shed and the docks are a photographers paradise of lines and geometry so I was not short of areas to photograph. I totally loved Maddy’s dress. It looked stunning on her and was wonderfully unusual with the ‘Tea-length’ style being between knee and floor. The bridesmaids dresses wee a beautiful shade of pink which was complimented by the mustard yellow of Mike’s tie and the purples and greens of the flowers. Maddy & Mike also incorporated their love of all things Wes Anderson into their table names on the day, with such names as; Steve Zissou & Margot Tennenbaum.
Maddy & Mike arrived to the wedding breakfast by crane which hoisted them up onto the roof as a surprise to all the guests who were stood waiting with confetti to welcome them as man & wife. It was a beautiful day with perfect weather and gorgeous surroundings.
